Course Description |

This is a hands-on class where students learn how computers are used in today’s business world. In CIS students will learn Web page design and have an opportunity to create their own web page. Students will have scanners and digital cameras available for their use. Students will also have Internet and E-Mail access both at school and at home. In addition, students will use Microsoft Office 2007 to learn the four main business applications - word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Students completing the Microsoft Office courses will have an opportunity to take the Microsoft Office certification tests. Student will learn programming languages such as Visual Basic and C++. In addition, students’ interested gaming will have the opportunity to learn Maya and Alice software programs. There are many new and exciting changes going on and this course will help take students into the next millennium of computer technology.

Articulation Agreement
Tech Prep students completing one year of Computer Information Systems will be eligible, upon meeting certain guidelines and upon graduation from high school, to receive advanced credit at West Shore Community College.
- BEDP 110 Intro. to Comp. Concepts - 3 cr.
- BEDP 160 Desktop Applications - 3 cr.
